Still, I Love Speakers!

Last month, I got my first AirPods.
Until this year, I'd used earbuds less often with Apple devices because AirPods are really expensive.
The reason I finally got one was that I've had 4 Apple devices so far, and I realized that 4 pairs of earbuds for each device cost more than a pair of AirPods.

I'm getting used to my AirPods these days, but the best way for me to enjoy music is to listen through speakers.
I particularly love wooden speakers because I feel the sound from them contains less reflected noise compared to plastic or metal speakers.
Since 2019, I've been building passive speakers: they need an amp to operate, but are more durable than powered speakers, which users need to dump or have repaired when the internal amp fails.
A speaker unit lasts much longer than expected: some audio lovers enjoy listening to music with over 40-year-old vintage speakers, and introduce their loved ones on YouTube.

Last year, I built my boombox "from scratch", I mean, I made my first speaker box.
It was a million times more difficult than I expected, since I didn't measure the lumber carefully.

Punching holes in the lumber was a disaster because I didn't have a workbench at the time.
During the night, I needed to punch holes silently with my jab saw.
Connecting the speaker units to the back terminals was extremely challenging: audio lovers tend to use solder, but I chose female faston terminals because I don't have an electrician's certificate.
I was initially planning to build a powered boombox with an internal Bluetooth amp.
Sadly, I found that assembling a speaker with an internal Bluetooth amp needed a radio operator's license.
I gave it up.
I mustn't make my boombox illegal.

My boombox will be one year old next month.
I made the best decision last year: I built it as a passive one to comply with the laws and enjoy testing music gadgets and amps.
I often do housework while listening to music or radio shows with this boombox: it's perfect for safe listening!
